SimSportsNet SMS Opt-In Information
This page explains how users opt in to receive SMS text messages from SimSportsNet,
what types of messages we send, and how users can opt out. It is intended both for
our users and for carriers/reviewers who need to understand our messaging workflow.
How Users Opt In to SMS Messages
Users can only opt in to SMS messages from inside their SimSportsNet account, after
they have logged in. We do not automatically add users to SMS lists
and we do not buy or sell phone number lists.
Step-by-step opt-in flow
- The user logs in to their SimSportsNet account.
- The user opens the Settings page (Profile Settings).
-
In the Profile Settings panel, the user sees a section labeled
Mobile (SMS) with an input field for their phone number and an
explicit consent checkbox.
-
The user enters their mobile phone number in the Mobile (SMS)
field. This is typically a U.S. number such as
215-555-1234.
-
The user checks a consent box labeled something similar to:
“I agree to receive SMS messages about team invites, roster changes, match
reminders, and account notifications from SimSportsNet at this number.
Message & data rates may apply.”
-
The user clicks Save Settings. Only after this explicit
opt-in is stored do we send SMS messages to that phone number.
Example UI (text description)
Profile Settings
• Name: [ Full Name input ]
• About Me: [ Textarea ]
• Default Game: [ Dropdown ]
• Mobile (SMS): [ Phone number input ]
• SMS Notifications: [ ] I agree to receive SMS messages about team invites,
roster changes, match reminders, and account notifications from SimSportsNet at this
number. Message & data rates may apply.
• [ Save Settings button ]
The SMS checkbox is unchecked by default. Users must manually enter their number and
check the box before SMS messages are enabled.
We record both the normalized phone number and the opt-in flag in our database. If the
user does not check the consent box, we treat them as not opted in and
we do not send SMS messages to that number.
Types of SMS Messages We Send
Once a user has opted in, we may send messages such as:
- Team invites – “You’ve been invited to join a SimSportsNet team.”
- Roster updates – “Your team roster has changed.”
- Match reminders – “Reminder: Your match is scheduled for tonight.”
- Account-related alerts – e.g., confirmations related to team membership.
These messages are transactional and directly related to the user’s SimSportsNet
activity (teams, leagues, games). We do not send unrelated marketing campaigns
to these numbers without additional, explicit consent.
Sample message content
-
“SimSportsNet: You’ve been invited to join a team. Open your invite: https://simsportsnet.com/join/team/ABC123”
-
“SimSportsNet: Your roster has changed. View update: https://simsportsnet.com/team/123”
-
“SimSportsNet: Match reminder – Your next game is tonight at 9:00 PM. Details: https://simsportsnet.com/matches/456”
How Users Can Opt Out
Users can opt out of SMS messages at any time using either of these methods:
-
Reply STOP by SMS:
Users can reply STOP to any SimSportsNet text message to stop
receiving SMS messages at that number.
-
Change settings in their account:
Users can go back to the Profile Settings page, uncheck the
SMS consent box, and/or remove their phone number. After they save, SMS messages
are disabled for that account unless they opt in again.
After opting out, we do not send additional SMS notifications to that phone number,
other than any required confirmation of the opt-out.
HELP and Support Messages
Users who need assistance with SMS can:
- Reply HELP to a SimSportsNet text message to receive a help response.
- Email our support team at support@simsportsnet.com.
Privacy and Use of Phone Numbers
We use phone numbers only to provide SimSportsNet-related services, such as the
notifications described above. We do not sell users’ phone numbers.
